Ugo Casiglia, a musician himself, studied piano and organ at the Palermo conservatory and at the Musikhochschule in Munich.<\/span><\/p>\n His innate dexterity and curiosity led him to attend short courses and prestigious workshops across Europe. He thus opened his own atelier in 1985 \u2013 the first in southern Italy \u2013 devoted to the construction of historical keyboard instruments. This endeavour began at a time when, in the Peninsula, there was a growing interest in historically informed performances.<\/span><\/p>\n Care in the selection of materials and the use of the harpsichord makers\u2019 old techniques results in products of the highest quality, which have led him to an international success. The ongoing and in-depth study of the originals and their technology has enticed him to also undertake conservation and restoration projects. His rigor and perfectionism have secured prestigious commissions and allowed him to achieve great goals.<\/span><\/p>\n Ugo Casiglia\u2019s atelier is in the small town of Cinisi, immersed in the greenery of the Gulf of Castellammare, near Palermo\u2019s Falcone-Borsellino International Airport. The instrument making takes place in the company\u2019s main building. Once completed, the instruments are then housed in the adjacent showroom, which is also used for concerts, teaching and record productions. Timber and the many original exemplars acquired over the years are stored in the warehouses nearby.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”2_5″ _builder_version=”4.16″
