The French Blanchet family stood out among the most prominent harpsichord makers of the 18 th century.
Our harpsichord is a replica of an instrument belonging to the production of the second son of Nicolas
Blanchet\u00a0I, Fran\u00e7ois-\u00c9tienne Blanchet\u00a0I\u2013who officially joined the family musical instrument making business
in 1722. The instrument, made in Paris ca. 1736, is kept today in the Cit\u00e9 de la Musique in the French
capital, and it embodies all the features needed by any harpsichord student: it has a wide range (from F0 to
F5), an iron structure, and a solid yet simple construction, it is easy to move, and it has a generous sound
due to its two coupled 8\u2019 stops.<\/p>\n
