A. Specken – Stoccolma 1748

Philip Jacob Specken was a pupil of Gottfried Silbermann, the famous German organ maker. Upon the end of his apprenticeship, he moved to Stockholm, Sweden, where he started his workshop specialising in harpsichords and clavichords. The latter enjoyed a considerable development in eighteenth-century Sweden and were appreciated until the end of the nineteenth century.

Our copy, after an original at the Museum of Musical Instruments in Stockholm, stands out for its delicate sound and very smooth keyboard.
