Tuning hammers

Tuning hammers are among the most beloved and collected objects by enthusiasts and technicians, thanks to their charm and extraordinary variety of models. Once handcrafted, they were not only functional tools, but also small masterpieces, meticulously crafted from precious metals and woods.

Although primarily used to tune the instrument, tuning hammers often have a refined aesthetic. Originally, instruments from the harpsichord family were equipped with T-shaped hammer, equipped with a hook to create the string loop and a small hammer on the side for the tuning peg. With the arrival of the first fortepianos in the 19th century, tuning hammers evolved: the necks became longer, and screw-on accessories were introduced, along with new weight and angle adjustments, and larger holes for larger tuning pegs.
